USDA: Butter/Butteroil – Europe in the begining of December 2021

Report 49 – Released on December 09, 2021

The butter price range in Western Europe is mixed. Upper prices firmed, reflecting premiumprices for valued butter from certain manufacturers. Last minute end of year retail demandalso boosted the top prices. Finally, some manufacturers have not been able to keep up withcontracted orders. This left some buyers (or a few manufacturers) scrambling to findadditional butter to fill retail demand. There was some softness at the low end of pricesfor less unique or sought-after butter.Bulk butter markets are focused on Q1 2022 contracting. Progress is slowed by differentprice expectations between buyers and sellers. Most Q4 2021 demand has been met.
