Butter/Butteroil – Europe at the beginning of August 2019
Report 31 – Released on August 01, 2019
Butter prices in Western Europe are slightly weaker. The strongest butter prices are in Germany, followed by Italy, Netherlands and France. Butteroil prices are also lower.
Most regular butter customers are stocked. There was an increase in deals concluded before typically long summer vacations so customers could go away and focus on vacations. As buyers trickle back to work there will be resumed discussions about contracts or spot sales for future weeks and months.
For current spot activity, which is light, manufacturers are more interested in selling than many buyers are interested in buying, unless the price is a good price. While they are finalizing future purchases, few buyers seem desperate to close deals
