WESTERN OVERVIEW
EU milk production January – August 2019, increased 0.3 percent from the same period last year, according to CLAL data made available to USDA. In some significant milk producing countries through this August, production decreased 0.5 percent in Germany, increased 2.6 percent in the United Kingdom, decreased 0.9 percent in France, and increased 9.0 percent in Ireland.
Western European cheese manufacturers are making as much cheese as they can with available milk. Sales are very good. Internal EU demand coupled with export demand means most cheese is spoken for as it is manufactured. Many cheese manufacturers would like to be able to get more ahead of demand to begin rebuilding aging stocks. EU cheese production January – August 2019 increased 0.3 percent from the same period last year, according to CLAL data made available to USDA.
January – August 2019 cheese exports from the EU,573,026 MT, are 3.3 percent higher than during January – August 2018, according to Eucolait. Main destinations are shown in the following table.

EASTERN OVERVIEW
Belarus milk production January – August 2019 decreased 0.4 percent from the same period last year, according to CLAL data made available to USDA. Exports through August were up 15.3 percent for whey powder, up 27.4 percent for SMP, and up 15.7 percent for cheese. Exports for butter decreased 9.6 percent and decreased 37.4 percent for WMP.
